In January 2001 several friends & I were watching eagles hunting on the
Mississippi River near Reel Foot Lake. (the river had ice floes coming down it,
something I had never seen before). We were not too far from the site of the
eagles nest on the levy & I noticed a number of dead ducks dumped in a slightly
depressed area, with some brush nearby. There were at least 6-8, mostly
mallards, which appeared to be basically untouched though I do remember
thinking the neck of one looked like it could have been wrung. To be honest, I
was so horrified I didn't investigate fully-now I wish I had paid closer
attention. Thais Carr, Thompsons Station
