I echo all of Betty Garmon's comments on the Mavica (Sony)
CD1000, but I use it mainly for butterflies not birds,
though it has done a good job with some of them also. The
main drawback is the half-second delay between snapping
a shutter and the actual taking of the picture by the
camera; many birds move quite a bit in the half second
delay. [If anyone knows how to get around that problem,
please advise.)

I use my camera for taking a lot of flower pictures also - the Macro feature
is great!! And I've managed to get a few good butterfly shots.

To get around the movement of your subjects - be sure to have the 'Steady
Shot' feature engaged. When you see the exact shot you want, slightly
depress the Shutter Button - it will hold that shot for you, and if you like
it, then go ahead and depress the Sutter Button all the way. Has worked for
me!! Great camera, right?!!!
