I was eating on the patio of a restaurant last night in Murfreesboro and watched a fledgling Brown-headed Cowbird being fed by a Song Sparrow (probably the female as a male was nearby singing). Then there were two cowbirds begging for food. After a few more minutes, a third cowbird fledgling appeared and all three were begging for barbeque potato chips. A juvenile mockingbird was also picking through leftovers and chasing off the cowbirds. Sorry for the auto-reply post on the list. I've been told it should only be sent once. If it goes out a second time, I'll undo the auto-reply. Cheers, Scott Somershoe State Ornithologist Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency P.O.
