Dacus Bar
Ensley Bottoms
Shelby Co, TN
Well almost zero;o) When I arrived at the pits this morning, all the birds
were in the air as an adult male, Cooper's Hawk was circling over the main pit.
There are huge numbers of Starlings and Killdeer so it was an impressive
swirl of birds. When everything settled in, I was set back by the numbers of
Least Sandpipers and after counting from a couple of vantage points I had 112,
plus I'd come up with 2 Pectoral, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Stilt Sandpiper and 3
Solitary Sandpipers. The Pectoral, Lesser Yellowlegs and Stilt were first of
season for the pits. So far in Shelby Co, the Wind Bird species total this
season is 11.
On Dacus Bar, there were Killdeer, 21 Least Sandpipers and 3 Black-necked
Stilts.
I've added a few photos to my 2007 page of my "TOO CUTE" White-tail fawn
that I lucked up on yesterday and a shot of the Stilt Sandpiper that blew in
this morning, plus a gutsy Killdeer...Try:
