Just talked to Jeff, and he had 4 species of loons again late yesterday afternoon. The Yellow-billed was seen again from the road as you drive on around past Rocky Point and get to the hill where you overlook the wide reach of the Big Sandy. The Yellow-billed came into the roost area a little before dusk. Jeff then had both a Pacific and Red-throated just before dark back at Rocky Point; still over 500 loons in view from a single location. Also of note at Big Sandy Unit was a single female Common Merganser amongst the horde of ducks below the observation deck at Bennett's Creek Overlook. He said Britton Ford was literally covered with ducks, and the Black Scoter I saw a week or so ago was still present. All of this is of course in Henry Co. He is at Pickwick today in Hardin Co, and had a young Lesser Black-backed and what he described as a gorgeous, classic young Thayer's. I'm really bummed about all the birds I've missed now since my fender bender a few weeks ago.........Hopefully I will get a little birding in shortly in NE China if things go as planned. Good Birding!! Mike Todd =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
