On 11 June, while in the area conducting one of Cornell's Breeding Bird
Census near Whigg Meadow, Cherokee National Forest I heard a Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker calling repeatedly from Forest Service Rd 61 (a few miles off of
the Cherahala Skyway, Monroe Co., TN)
Also, seems like Blackburnian Warblers are more numerous than usual.
Wonder if we are getting displaced birds from more northern regions due to
the Hemlock blight. Anyone else notice and increased number of
blackburnians?
