Anna,
I know of two bird rehab folks in the Knoxville-Oak Ridge area--one for
raptors and one for songbirds--but this probably is of no use to you,
because I assume Summertown is nowhere near here (I'm afraid I don't
know where you are!). If you are near any large to medium-size city, I
feel pretty sure you can track one down. (Obviously, many times the
wounds are such that the advice is the same as that for a horse with a
broken leg (in the cowboy movies, at least.))
Let me know if you want contact information for the people I know.
They might be able to give you leads.
