[TN-Bird] Wild Turkey Still On Nest!

between many of the holes. We try to bushog parts of the natural areas of the
golf course at different times of the year so we do not destroy all the habitat
at any one season. For looks and for certain plants to show up their best
(Broomsedge), we bushog some areas in late July. I have always though all birds
had fledged by then.
Much to our surprise today, one of the workers mowing saw a Wild Turkey
hunched down on a nest. He had already gotten too close before he saw it and
broke one of 8 eggs. Of course the hen flew off. My worker knows quite a bit
about Wild Turkeys and said the hen will definitely not come back to the nest.

On the good side we have had a bumper crop of turkeys raised inside and
around the golf course this year. I wonder if is normal to find Wild Turkeys
still on the nest this late?
