[TN-Bird] White Ibis, Tricolored Heron -- Dyer County 6/04/09

Sorry for the somewhat delayed post; I haven't had e-mail (or
phone...) access in the interim.

Two interesting waders along Great River Road (Highway 181) in
southern Dyer County Thursday afternoon (6/04/09):

Adult WHITE IBIS at about mile 5.6 (mile markers start at the
Lauderdale Co line and go up northwards), on the east side of the
road in a flooded field with some Little Blue Herons.

Adult TRICOLORED HERON on the south side of Moss Island WMA, south of
the main entrance, near the south (ATV only) entrance, in wet fields
on the east side of Great River Road, with a large flock of Snowy
Egrets and Little Blue Herons. Moss Island is a couple of miles
north of the Obion River adjacent to Great River Road.

These waders are chasing around the stranded fish from the receding
floodwaters and are moving around quite a lot. There were no birds
at all at the Tricolored spot the next day. There were also dozens
upon dozens of Cattle Egrets in the same general areas.
