I was out at Seven Islands looking for the Townsend's Solitaire from about
8:15 'til noon. It was a changeable day going from cold to downright cold
depending on the wind. When I first got to the pond the sun was out and birds
were everywhere. 100+ robins, 100+ waxwings, 20+ bluebirds, lots of sparrows,
yellow-rumped warblers, just activity everywhere, especially around the
pokeberry plants. Then the clouds came in, the wind picked up, and the
bunches of robins and waxwings and bluebirds disappeared.
I gave the solitaire plenty of chances to see me, but it did not return the
favor.
Ron Hoff and DollyAnn Myers were the only other birders I saw.
Highlights:
Sandhill Crane (2) flyover at about 8:15
Bald Eagle (1 adult)
Purple Finch (4)
White-crowned Sparrow (5+)
lots of Field Sparrows
