I surveyed the Tennessee River from the Chickamauga Dam to Wolftever
Creek (including Savannah Bay) on November 21 looking for migrating
waterbirds. Despite miserable conditions here are the highlights:

36 Canada Goose

2 Redhead

2 Greater Scaup

10 Lesser Scaup

7 Bufflehead

5 Common Goldeneye

10 Red-breasted Merganser

2 Ruddy Duck

17 Common Loon

49 Pied-billed Grebe (one nice tight raft of 33)

22 Horned Grebe

25 Ringed-billed Gull

3 Herring Gull (2 ad.)

2 Bald Eagle (2 im.)
