28 July 2004 Shelby Forest State Park Eagle Lake WMA Shelby Co., TN Taking advantage of today's unseasonably cool weather, I went to Shelby Forest and Eagle Lake this morning. A Blue-winged Warbler in the park was an early southbound (fall) return for the county. The black-and-white warbler was also likely an early migrant. Although Shelby Forest would appear to me to be an ideal habitat for them, there are few early summer or nesting records anywhere in the county. Meanwhile, the egrets and herons have shown up at Eagle Lake.
