This afternoon at Walker Springs Park in west Knox County I heard and saw a
White Eyed Vireo and a Red Eyed Vireo. There were probably 2 red eyed vireos
as I heard singing in different parts of the park. Also heard Blue Gray
Gnatcatchers. A small flock of Cedar Waxwings was the first I've seen in a
while. The hawks put on a show. A very vocal Red-Shouldered sounded off
while another circled some distance away. Some time later both
Red-Shoulders were in the air, though not close together, when a Cooper's
came out of nowhere and flew at one of them. It was almost as large as the
Red-Shouldered. I've never seen that behavior before.
