It now seems to be time for the "young boys" to get together. Three of for
spend the best part of the day in the yeard, feeding on corn., preening,
craning up to drink out of the tall birdbath or relaxing sprawled in the dirt.
Yesterday "Mr. Big" (appologies to Sex and the City) strutted around and
displayerd at the guys with the smaller beards. Eventually three of them got
into the act and paraded around in a circle round the bird feeder pole, all
displaying with their tails tilted towards each other. This seemed like and odd
time of the year for territorial behavior, but, apart from the lack of swollen
wattles, these were full displays. There was no direct aggression and the
young guys are back this morning behaving like pals again. Ralph and Kay
Brinkhurst, Lebanon, Wilson County.
