[TN-Bird] Townsend's Warbler

This morning Kay and I have both observed a Townsend's Warbler for several
minutes on each of three ocasions within a thirty minute period. The bird was
close and out in the open among trees 50 feet away. The bird resembles the
first winter female acc. to Sibley. The bright yellow breast is obvious and
contrasts with the white of the breast of the Black-throated Green. The yellow
ends mid belly, the rear end being white. The bird has all the color pattern -
prominant auricular patch with broad yellow area above and below (patch not
so broad as Blackburnian), dark crown of head, prominant white wing bars,
striped sides and flank.
According to BNA Online, it should be in winter plumage right now. We have
both seen this species before. We observed it with a bird banding crew at
Creamer's Field, Fairbanks AL in August 2004, and again in September 2005 at
Point Reyes CA with three professional guides in the party. We are in Lebanon,
West Wilson County. 615-449-0053 would produce an invitation to check it out.
