You need to get a good photograph of the shrike you reported Monday !
That would be just the second Tennessee record for a Northern Shirke.
The state's only record for a Northern was one at Bristol, Tennessee in
Sullivan County, 40 years ago this month on 9-10 Nov. 1964 (An Annotated
Checklist of the Brids of Tennessee, 1990 by John C. Robinson, page 172).
You might want to review the age determination of "a first year adult." for
a Northern Shrike. Can you cite a published source for that age class ?
Take care and please make sure you make a report on that bird to the
Tennessee Birds Record Committee.
