[TN-Bird] The evr cahnging feast

The last couple of days has brought surprises good and bad. It seems the
junco's may be on the move as there were several in the yard this morning, in
the
trees as well as on the ground. We usually see one or at most two during the
day. We had a flicker, a redbelly, a downy, a redheaded and a pileated
woodpecker in view all at the same moment. Yesterday three female turkeys
strode
across the small open area behind the house, followed by a splendid male. He
proceeded to display at the ladies for about half an hour. Of course, the
ladies
pretended to ignore him. Now the bad news. Our very first pair of house
sparrows
appeared. Time for bird shot ammo I guess. Kay's father had a trap for these
to use in his yard in town, but we do not know if he invented it or if there is
a commercial model. Any help? That way we could trap and release. Ralph
Brinkhurst, Lebanon, Wilson Co.
