Schoolhouse Gap Trail
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Blount County
4/25/06
Hi folks,
Today I led a group of 7th graders from Knoxville on a trip to Cades
Cove. Along the way we stopped at Schoolhouse Gap Trail and found a
couple of Swainson's Warblers.
Also seen or heard along the trail:
Yellow-throated Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Worm-eating Warbler
Black-throated-Green Warbler
Northern Parula
Hooded Warbler
Louisiana Waterthrush
Blue-headed Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Not bad for less than a mile of trail at 10 am!
Highlights at Cades Cove included:
Turkeys in 3 different places
Yellow-throated Vireo
Chipping Sparrows carrying nesting material
Loads of Swamp Darners (a very large dragonfly)
