Ensley Bottoms, President's Island
Shelby Co.
DeSoto Co. MS

There were 10 Least Tern young on the visible flat at TVA Lake along with
18 B-b Whistlers and 2 DC Cormorants.

At the "Pits" the Mississippi Kites had the shorebirds active and I added
2 Semipalmated Plovers to the list and now there are 3 Lesser Y'legs. Mom
and Dad Black-bellied had their young duckies tucked up under the vegetation
but I could count all three through the scope.

It always amazes me how fast the flycatchers move their young away from
the nesting areas after fledging; I found only 3 groups on a fast drive
around President's Island. I did find Western Kingbirds at 2 new locations.
The
first being a pair at the old Army Depot on Airways.

The second location was just across the State Line in MS, I had been
watching this sub-station for a few years off of 51 Highway and finally
photographed an adult Western Kingbird feeding a fledgling.........another
nesting
for MS.

What is this feathered thing that lifts my heart to the heavens.
