[TN-Bird] Spring arrivals, etc. (Greene Co., TN)

Greene County: Joachim Bible Refuge unit of Lick Creek Bottoms Wildlife 
Management Area (JBR), 
Wal-Mart Distribution Center (WMDC), Kinser Park (KP), numerous other sites 

Greeneville's Spring Bird Count was held yesterday. Results have not been 
tabulated, but here is a partial list from my day in the field as a 
participant: 

Blue-winged Teal (14 JBR etc.) 
Green-winged Teal (10 JBR) 
Ruddy Duck (JBR; quite surprising) 
Northern Bobwhite (10 JBR, including a couple that walked across the road not 
more than ten feet in front of me) 
Great Egret (3 JBR) 
Black-crowned Night-Heron (KP) 
Osprey (KP) 
Sora (4 JBR) 
Spotted Sandpiper 
Solitary Sandpiper (7 JBR etc.) 
Greater Yellowlegs (7 JBR etc.) 
Lesser Yellowlegs (4 JBR etc.) 
Least Sandpiper 
American Woodcock (6 displaying, JBR) 
Black-billed Cuckoo (JBR; only my fourth record in the county, and the first 
since May 28, 2001) 
Great Horned Owl (3 JBR etc.) 
Chuck-will's-widow 
Red-headed Woodpecker (2 Green Road) 
Great Crested Flycatcher 
Eastern Kingbird (13) 
White-eyed Vireo (5) 
Yellow-throated Vireo 
Horned Lark (singing, Baughard Hill Road) 
Cliff Swallow (6) 
Wood Thrush 
Northern Parula (2) 
Black-throated Blue Warbler 
Black-throated Green Warbler (5) 
Prairie Warbler (5) 
Black-and-white Warbler (2) 
Ovenbird (8) 
Northern Waterthrush (WMDC, in the thin strip of wet woods between the second 
pond and the railroad track) 
Louisiana Waterthrush (2) 
Common Yellowthroat (45) 
Hooded Warbler (7) 
Savannah Sparrow (5) 
White-crowned Sparrow (11) 
Scarlet Tanager (2) 
Indigo Bunting (3) 
Rusty Blackbird (a nice surprise) 
Orchard Oriole (2)
