[TN-Bird] Sprague's Pipits in Gibson County!

I tried to send this from work yesterday afternoon but apparently it did not go
through (sorry!)...

March 29, 2005
Seedtick Rd., Gibson County

I had two Sprague's Pipits on Seedtick Road in Gibson County yesterday. They
were in some short grass beside the road by some open fields. Seedtick Road is
located NNE of Yorkville between Baseline Road and Bells Chapel Road. The area
where the pipits were found was just east of the jct. with Brown Rd. along the
gravel section of Seedtick Road. I got out of the truck and noticed a couple
of different call notes that I did not immediately recognize. After I had
taken about 2 steps the birds took flight and towered to several hundred feet
and circled the open field to the north. After a couple of minuted they landed
in the open field and I was able to view them on the ground for a couple of
minutes before they took flight again. When I last saw them they were flying
to the northeast. I tried to relocate them along Kay Rd. to the NE but could
not find them. I came back to Seedtick Road later in the day and wa again
unsuccessful at trying to relocate them.

I'll try to check in that area again today to see if they can be found again.

Good birding,
