Lake County, TN
While working in Lake County again today I saw my first Snowy Egrets of the
spring in three different areas (Wynnburg Slough, Phillipy Pits, Reelfoot WMA)
totaling 7 individuals. I visited the shorebird areas that I was at yesterday
and there were a lot less birds present than there were yesterday. Pectoral
Sandpipers and Lesser Yellowlegs numbers were way down from yesterday but there
were actually a few more Greater Yellowlegs than there were yesterday. The
Willet that I found yesterday at the Philippy Unit of the Black Bayou Refuge
was not seen today.
I had a singing Blue-headed Vireo and a Swainson's Warbler in the woods at the
end of Ernie Pierce Road by the Reelfoot WMA (handicapped duck blind area).
Both were spring firsts for me.
Good birding,
Mark Greene
