Sunday my mother and I visited Cades Cove, GSMNP. WE heard our first-of-season
Blue-Headed Vireo at the Bote Mtn. trailhead outside of the Cove. We had our
FOS Waterthrush there last year but none Sunday. We heard another B.H. Vireo
near John Oliver's Cabin and finally saw a pair in the woods east of Hyatt Ln.
Other birds seen were a Golden-Crowned Kinglet, 2 Brown Creepers, 2
Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers, and a female Northern Harrier. At the sawage ponds
were 33 Bufflehead, 3 Wood Ducks, and 10-15 Wilson's Snipe.
