[TN-Bird] Six Ross's Geese in Carter County

Feb. 24, 2004
Elizabethton
Carter Co., TN
Don Holt and Wallace Coffey observed six Ross's Geese near the Watauga River
east of Elizabethton today at 2 p.m. The birds were about .7 mile upstream from
the old iron bridge on Wilbur Dam Road. They were feeding in fields directly
behind the faded red barn on the right of the road. Larry McDaniel found the
birds this morning and they were identified as Ross's Geese by McDaniel and
Rick Knight. This morning they were first located in the river near the old
stone bridge pillars which stand in the river bed about .5 mile above the iron
bridge. McDaniel made digital photos of the birds. During the afternoon they
were frequently flying in the area and not seen in the river while we were
there.

Let's go birding....

Also, still present on Wilbur Lake were 6 Redheads.
