Notes: Water all most gone from the big pond the wetland area across
from the Ensley Yards still has some water and the waders are begging to
hang out there more since the other pond is almost dry very few fish left
wallowing in the mud. Green Grass & weeds are covering most areas usually
under water by this time of year. Heavy rains desperately needed.

Location: TN 2 Mem, Maxson Wastewater Lagoons(The Pits)/Earth Complex

Observation date: 9/26/07, 615-645pm

Notes: Met at the entrance by a Kestrel on the wires with a furry long
tailed meal in its grasp. Moved onto the levee of pond #4 and before I was
able to start scanning for birds the Peregrine startled me as it lifted off
the levee just ahead of me. Thousands of Peeps by the way were very upset
the whole pond flew up together as it circled once and flew of to the north
half of the property. Found the bloody remains of what looked like what once
was a L Sandpiper. Hard to estimate but 3000+ L Sandpipers may be
conservative of what was on the pond or should I say hastley flying around
and over it. The few times they did sit down was able to find a couple of
odd balls in the mess. The four Lsr Yel-legs stood out in a small group and
then just before turning off to pond #5 a Pect SP stood out tall amongst his
short friends. Pond #5 had no real amt of birds to speak about. Will be
interesting to see what's left or what comes in tommorrow after tonight's
storm rolls through.
