Sightings Report 23 Dec'06 Collierville area, Shelby County Tn

Location: TN 1 Cvll, Peterson Lake Nature Center

Observation date: 12/23/06, 215-445pm

Notes: Took the total walk today on the boardwalk/trail. Unfortunately
parts of it was in ankle deep mud. Project is about 80-85% complete. almost
all of the low level walk is done. The elevated areas where its really muddy
and full of water still needs completion, all posts are in though. Looking
real good. Lots of woodpeckers throughout the woods making a racket. Juv
Red-heads calling up a storm. 5 Piliated seen today, One at the River View
area, 2 midway down the walk, one down near the treatment plant, and also one
up at the front end of the old bridge entering the swamp. Took pictures of
some cavitees I haven't noticed before. Workers have had to cut a new access
trail from the treatment plant since the original two are full of water and
mud. Opens up more viewing though that wasn't avail before. Two Barred owls
calling to each other all afternoon.
