[TN-Bird] Sightings Report 2 Nov 2006 Ensley Bottoms area

Location:     TVA PONDS
Observation date:     11/2/06,330pm-350pm

Notes:      Clear cool day, huge floats on the ponds. Blackbirds starting to
mass up in huge flocks.

Killdeer     5     

Belted Kingfisher     1     

European Starling     1000     

Red-winged Blackbird     200

 

Location:     TE Maxwell Lagoons

Observation date:     11/2/06, 350pm-510pm

Notes:      Bird of the day was the Loggerhead Shrike on the phone line
overlooking the old pumpkin fields. Good view of him, clean breast and good
solid mask and fully dark beak. Harrier soaring low over the western fields.
Lots of RT Hawks everywhere you look, at one time I had 5 in site at once.

Notes:      Water way, way down since early in week. We need a substantial
amount of rain.
