After spending the first two weeks of September in Hawaii it's back to
birding West Tenn.
Spent at least 1-1.5 hours each day usually at lunch checking out what birds
have come to town. Visited the Pits and TVA Lakes at Ensley Bottoms and went
up to see if anything was still around at the Stiles (north) Treatment
Plant.
Jeff Wilson has summed it up perfectly for the week down in the Ensley area.
Stiles plant had very few birds at it but it did hold a small flock of
Lesser Yel Legs that were dozing.
Ensley was abuzz with birds on Monday but by Friday, birds were few and
Spread out.
Egrets and Herons had dwindled down to about 30 by Friday down quite a bit
from the several hundred at the beginning of the week. But like Jeff
mentioned the presidents Island area/roost is holding a lot of birds.
Pictures of the Blk-bellied Whistling Duck Family and it's guest (third
adult) that showed up Friday along with some other photos can be seen at the
link below. Click on any picture to expand view.
