[TN-Bird] Sightings Report 15 Sept 07 Shelby County, Ensley Bottoms- Memphis & Collierville peterson lake

Location: Home feeders in Collierville tn through out day 4 hrs 
9/15/07

Hummingbirds, Ruby-throated  100+

Birds have been swarming all over the yard and at the 6 feeders that are up.

 

Location:     TN 1 Cvll, Peterson Lake Nature Center

Observation date:     9/15/07 7-830am, walk .75 mile

Notes:     Fall Migration count Within Shelby County Tn. Geese in good
numbers in the area every day now. Warblers in the bottoms during the
migration. We've had some rain so the bottoms are very active. Cool morning
in the low 60's.

Location:     TN 2 Mem, Riverport Rd Ponds / Swamp

Observation date:     9/15/07, 910-1005am, car 1 mile

Notes:     Same Grt Egrets(less in number, Wood Storks and Blk Cr Night
Herons as reported the last severel days. when the water and the fish
finally dry up so will the birds find another place to feed. Water levels
getting to the lowest of low. Migratory bird day for Shelby County Tn.

Location:     TN 2 Mem,TVA PONDS

Observation date:     9/15/07, 1005-1015am, stationary

Notes:     DC Cormorants still utilizing the pond as a day roost. numbers
are fluctuating as birds come through. Can't see below the back levee into
Mckeller Lake though, there may be more down thee sitting the day away.

Location:     TN 2 Mem, Maxson Wastewater Lagoons(The Pits)/Earth Complex

Observation date:     9/15/07,1015-1115am car 2 miles 

Notes:     Buff-Breasted are still present in the just mowed Pigweed along
the gravel roads separating the levees. L SP are shortter supply today than
past few days where we had thousands. Migratory Bird count Shelby County Tn.
