Sightings Report 15 Nov 2006 Ensley Bottoms Area, Memphis, Shelby County
 

Location:     Riverport Rd Ponds / Swamp

Observation date:     11/15/06,1210-1235pm

Notes:      Storms this morning have left everything a mess a little more
water though in the ponds and sloughs. Bird numbers down at the Riverport Rd
sites. Big storm brewing up and heading in from NW.

Number of species:     14

 

Canada Goose     1     

Gadwall     11     

Hooded Merganser     3     

Pied-billed Grebe     3     

Great Blue Heron     1     

Red-tailed Hawk     1     

American Kestrel     1     

Killdeer     7     

Eurasian Collared-Dove     11     

Mourning Dove     9     

Belted Kingfisher     1     

Blue Jay     5     

American Crow     2     

European Starling     17    

 

Location:     TVA PONDS

Observation date:     11/15/06,1235-1255pm

Notes:      Same large float of birds on the big TVA Pond. Storms this
morning have them packed closer together and the wind is up and getting
worse. Rough count estimated at 350 Lsr Scaup. Birds in the smaller pond #2
were easier to count since in more protected waters. This makes three days
straight this huge float of birds have been seen.
