[TN-Bird] Shorebirds etc., W. Maury Co.

Stops at Monsanto Road - Solutia - Roberts Bend Hogwallow (NW of  
Columbia) and Arrow Lake (S of Mt. Pleasant) today, Sep. 19, 2006.   
Unless otherwise noted, species was seen at both spots.  No  
shorebirds other than Killdeer at the Hogwallow today.  Water birds  
only:

Canada Goose -- 3
Wood Duck -- 7 (Solutia)
Blue-winged Teal -- 6 (Arrow L.)
Double-crested Cormorant  -- 5
Great Blue Heron -- 10
Great Egret -- 3
Semipalmated Plover -- 4 (Arrow)
Killdeer -- 4
Greater Yellowlegs -- 2 (Arrow)
Lesser Yellwlegs -- 25 (Arrow)
Solitary Sandpiper -- 15 (Arrow)
Spotted Sandpiper -- 1 (Arrow)
Semipalmated Sandpiper  -- 3 (Arrow)
longer-billed peep, sp. -- 5
Pectoral Sandpiper -- 2 (Arrow)

The lighting and distance only allowed identifying the shortest- 
billed peeps as Semipalms; the others coulda been Semipalms, Leasts,  
or Westerns from all I could see.  For reference: around noon is the  
worst time to go to Arrow Lake, as the birds are all severely backlit  
at that time...
