On Saturday March 22nd, in addition to the usual residents, we sighted the
following birds at
various spots in Shelby Farms Park:
Along the Wolf River (Lucius Birch Natural Area):
Pine Warbler
Ruby-Crowned Kinglet
In the flooded demonstration fields along Germantown Road:
Blue-winged Teal
Bufflehead
Ring-necked Ducks
Gadwall
Tree Swallows
Purple Martins
In the pine forest north of Pine Lake:
Pine Warbler
White-Eyed Vireo
Yellow-Throated Vireo
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Great Horned Owl
Purple Finch
Hermit Thrush
We saw all the woodpeckers, including a Pileated, except we could not find
any Red-Heads. There were also a Blue-winged Teal and Gadwall in Pine
Lake.
Earlier this week I saw a Barn Swallow in the Buffalo field near the main
entrance.
