TVA Lake / Robco Lake
Shelby Co. TN
Tunica Co. MS
Arkabutla Lake
Desoto Co. MS

Rainy bad day, but things to witness. At TVA Lake, birds were still coming
in from feeding but nothing different in the morning. Snow and White-fronted
Geese streamed north overhead the whole time I was there and quick counts of
just those moving directly overhead totaled 6500+. More ducks were present in
the afternoon but still no scoters or Long-tailed Duck just a couple of bill
tagged Lesser Scaup. You just have to wait for the good ones but I went south.

At Robco, Thousands of ducks but the weather had gone down hill and wind
shifted so I went south again. On my return to Robco late in the day, I could
not believe my eyes?? there were less than 250 ducks on the whole
lake..........

There are gulls spread all across the delta feeding and resting in the wet
fields. I found nothing but Ring-bills except for a dozen immature Herring, one
being very large and extremely gray and the single adult again off of
Counce Road.

Arkabutla had a huge flotilla of ducks off the north end of the dam with an
Eared Grebe and a leucistic Mallard the best among the 12 species in the
flock. I located only one Laughing Gull sitting on the lake with the
Bonaparte's
Gulls. The surprise was refinding and photographing the HYBRID -
Ring-bill/Laughing Gull.
Good Birding !!!
