On Sunday, October 22, 2006, Seven Islands wildlife Refuge will host "Meet
Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge - Its Natural Communities and Its Critters,"
sponsored by The Seven Islands Foundation & Knox County Department of Parks and
Recreation. All Are invited (see program below).
In the morning (starting around 8am), we are planning to do some bird banding
in the grasslands and in the afternoon (1-4pm) we will have slide
presentations of some of the work that has been done at Seven Islands over the
past 5
years. There will be food and a tent for the afternoon presentations. In case
of rain we will not band in the morning, but if the rain is not heavy we will
do some bird walks.
Seven Islands is located off Exit 402 (Midway exit) on US I-40. east of
Knoxville. Head south and follow the green Seven Islands Signs. The bird
banding
and the tent for the afternoon programs will be along the paved road running
through Seven Island. For more information about Seven Islands, check out the
TOS website.
