Janice Chadwell and I observed what we believe to be a pair of Scissor-tailed Flycatchers from 10:55 - 11:03 AM CDT in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. The first bird found, the female, remained on the north end of Beene Stadium which is the football field for the high school. Access to where we saw the birds is best from Railroad Avenue just south of the Lodge Plant. The male bird was observed briefly as he flew from the Stadium to the east across Railroad Avenue and over the William Leslie Ketterman Memorial ballfields. Further attempts to relocate the male along US 72 were unsuccessful. The female was only observed feeding and no signs of nest building or nesting were observed.
