[TN-Bird] Sandhill Cranes at Hop-In Refuge

29-Nov-2008
Hop-In Refuge

Obion Co.

While visiting family in Missouri I saw the post about Sandhill Cranes in
Hop-In Refuge. Since this refuge was just a little out of the way on the
drive back to Nashville we decided to stop by to see the cranes. Before
leaving Missouri, we stopped along the highway to view about 500+ Snow Geese
in a field just west of Hayti. We did not spend much time seeing what else
may be there because it was getting late and we wanted to get to Hop-In.
When we finally arrived at the refuge we saw some cranes flying in so we
knew where to look in the field. There were well over 300 cranes that we
could see and probably a lot more but the light was getting low. Made it to
the refuge just in time.
