[TN-Bird] "SHORT-TAIL" embarrassment

Thanks to Jeff Wilson for pointing out to me that I inadvertently changed the
identity of my short-eared owl in Franklin to "probable adult female
shot-tailed hawk." I am properly embarrassed and apologize profusely for
leading anyone astray. I guess the preparation (all that cooking) and
excitement of the holidays plus a mighty busy schedule just had me more tired
and stressed than I realized. That's what I get for reading all those
reports from my native Florida which included a true short-tailed hawk
sighting before I wrote mine about a short-eared owl. Thank God I at least
had it right in the subject line which is probably why no one else mentioned
it to me. Even though I had proofread my text TWICE before hitting the
"send" button, I completely overlooked my own error.
Thanks again, Jeff. I really appreciate you keeping me straight even if you
did have to write to me twice before I realized I'd said what I did. In your
first writing, I thought you were questioning as to why I called it a
possible adult female. I was reading short-eared owl not only in my
proofreading but also in your first questioning post to me.
Good birding and Happy New Year to all. Please don't cause any traffic jams
down around Carnton Golf Course looking for anything more than a short-eared
owl.
A very red faced Dee Thompson
