Yesterday I found the nest of the Scissortail Flycatchers on Florence Road. It
is on the telephone pole closest to the new house on the west side just before
the junction with Tn840 going south. The pole is marked with a "no
trespassing" sign. The field beside the nest has just been cut and is full on
the large round hay bales, there is also a L Shrike in residence there, nesting
suspected but not confirmed. This species is almost gone from the county.
Last summer, there was also at least one bird there but it disappeared until
last week. Right at the junction with Tn 840, several Dickcissels are nesting,
they have also become very uncommon in this neck of the woods.
