[TN-Bird] Rufous Hummingbird Day 91

Willie got to the feeder early this morning at 6:02 . He came for
several quick sips the first few minutes and has now settled down to
his regular routine of fifteen to twenty minute intervals. Yesterday
from ten o'clock until eleven o'clock, he sat on the wrought iron
butterfly basking in the warm sunshine. As he sat with his back toward
me I was able to see all the changes taking place in the feathers on
his back and the top of his head. He did acrobatics as he managed to
catch some of the tiny insects that were also enjoying the sunshine.
Even though he is pretty ratty looking right now he is still quite
charming.
The change we made in feeding all the other birds at the back of the
house is paying off for Willie. The hawk that has kept him from
feeding for long periods during the day is now guarding the back
feeders and is no longer a constant threat to Willie and his feeding
area.
One more day to enjoy watching Willie.
