[TN-Bird] Rufous Hummingbird Day 58

Willie slept in this morning and didn't appear for his
let-me-see-if-the-sugar-water-is-still-there sip until 6:44 a.m. The
temperature is in the 50's and it was dark outside due to the clouds, so
he must have enjoyed his extra rest. And he may have been so full from
yesterday that he didn't feel the need to begin feeding early.

A birder from Knoxville came yesterday morning and Willie cooperated by
giving him some good looks. After lunch I walked by the kitchen door
and saw Willie hovering over his favorite cedar bush and then flying
into it, coming back out and repeating the action. He did this several
times and at first I thought he was having a territorial battle with one
of the smaller birds invading his bush. But then we realized there was
an insect hatch inside the bush and he was catching them. What a show
he put on for at least 20 minutes as he gave us the best looks we've had
in all the time he's been with us. He went to bed last night packed
with protein.

It sure makes one wonder about this "coincidence" of timing that the day
before we are to have drastically plunging temperatures and rain/snow
that these insects hatched and he fed so well. To those who have not
ruled out the possibility that God made little hummers and big humans,
all these types of occurrences do seem more than "coincidence", don't
they?
