Maybe a better name for this little beauty would be Punctual. His inner
timeclock is amazing. The temperature was down into the low single
digits here last night and as we peered into the darkness surrounding
the two shafts of light created by our heat bulbs, we both assumed he
would be later coming to the feeder this morning. But he buzzed into
the feeder precisely at 6:28 a.m., his usual time, and brought the usual
laugh of joy from both of us.
The benefit of his little scare in a foot sticking to the wrought iron
candleholder has been his moving to another bush which is completely
devoid of foliage. Now for the first time we can see him as he rests
between feedings and enjoy his gorgeous color even more. Just three
more mornings and he can be counted on our CBC; he's already become
locally famous through a front-page article by our local newspaper.
It's amazing how this unexpected gift from God has changed our lives.
Does that sound familiar on this Christmas Day?
