[TN-Bird] Roan Mtn. Christmas Count

The 56th Roan Mountain Christmas Bird Count was held on 20 Dec 2008.  This 
count was 
started in 1950, but was weathered out three times (1959, 1961, & 1972).  This 
year 15 
observers in 3 groups tallied 46 species and 1244 individuals.  The recent 
average (last 
20 years) has been 45 species and the all-time high was 55 species in 1987.

Four species were found in all-time high numbers for this count:
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker  9
White-breasted Nuthatch  24
Ruby-cr. Kinglet  4  (seldom found on this count)
Field Sparrow  36.
