The Chattanooga CBC was held on December 20 and 22 participants found 92
species. This species total is on the low side, the count averages in
the high 90's and last year we had 103 species.

Highlights included:

- 1 Prairie Warbler (first ever for this CBC) found by John Henderson
and Dan Jacobson at Pinkies Point.

- 1 Gray Catbird - found by Danny Gaddy's group, David Spicer
photographed it.

- 65 Northern Shovelers - a high count for this CBC.

- 1 Red-breasted Merganser

- 5 Virginia Rails - David Patterson observed them at Standifer Gap
Marsh.

- 1 Red-breasted Nuthatch - Jimmy Wilkerson's party found this one.

- 2 Purple Finches

- 9 Pine Siskins

Low Points:

- no Wood Ducks

- no Peregrine Falcon - I did have a flyby at the aquarium
during the count week.

- no Double-crested Cormorants

- no Eastern Screech Owls

I want to thank everyone who helped with this count. You did a great
job as always!
