This week, I have had at least one Red-Breasted Nuthatch at my feeders here
in West Morristown, Hamblen County, TN.
It is a very bold little bird...last Thursday when the weather was so awful,
it snatched a black oil seed from the feeder I was holding in my hand
getting ready to refill. Yesterday, it came within 4-5' of me as I stood
near the feeder resting from raking leaves!
I have at least 3 Juncos coming to my feeders; I usually do not see these
birds until later in the season.
I'm having "severe weather" numbers of birds regularly feeding and we have
had relatively little cold & wet weather here in Morristown. Perhaps due to
the loss of mast crop from late freeze and drought???
