[TN-Bird] Radnor Lake additions, Davidson Co.

3-27-07
Radnor Lake
Davidson Co.
I birded the east end of Radnor Lake this morning and had a few things that
Frank Fekel didn't report from his morning walk there. There was a singing
LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH across from the east parking lot, and a WILD TURKEY hen
that crossed the road at the parking lot and headed up the hill to the north.
A
very cooperative BARRED OWL perched just a few feet from the road over the
narrow creek between the parking lot and the lake Where was my camera?!!! And
at the east end of the lake there was the largest snapping turtle I've ever
seen there. It was at least three feet long with a massive head that was about
6-8 inches across. It reminded me of the alligator snapping turtle in the tank
at the Nashville Zoo.
