Radnor Lake State Natural Area Nashville-Davidson Co., TN 12 April, 2007 About mid-day today I encountered a Swainson's Thrush on Ganier Ridge (not far from the TOS Ganier plaque). Earlier, on my way up the ridge I got a good look at a Hermit Thrush complete with its rufous tail. When I later saw the Swainson's I was expecting another Hermit. But it cooperated long enough for me to get a good long look and it was a Swainson's. Later back down along the lake trail near the Artist and Teacher bench two dueling White-eyed Vireos amused me for quite awhile. They darted, they chased, and they gave their harsh scold call when one wasn't trying to out sing the other.
