Happy New Year, birders!
Here's a list of my sightings from late yesterday morning, as my husband and i
walked around Radnor Lake in Davidson County:

- Barred Owl - roosting high up, just down from Granier Ridge (thanks for the
pointer from a friendly photographer leaving as we walked in from the eastern
parking lot)
- Great Blue Heron
- Ring-necked Duck, a couple dozen close to the dam
- A. Wigeon
- A. Black Duck, a pair off by themselves
- Gadwall, lots at the eastern end and in the bigger pond nearby
- Ruddy Duck, a pair in boring non-breeding plumage
- Lesser Scaup, i THINK, on the far side of the lake from the road
- Northern Shoveler
- Mallard
- A. Crow
- hundreds of Robins!
- Red-bellied Woodpecker
- Downy Woodpecker
- N. Mockingbird
- N. Cardinal
- C. Chickadee
- T. Titmouse
- Carolina Wren
- A. Goldfinch, still with lots of gold
- White-throated Sparrow
- Junco

(We didn't check the feeders at the center.)

May we all see lots of birds in 2006!
Sylvia Anglin
