Davison Co.

Although I found my first SWAMP SPARROW of the season at home Sunday
in Bellevue (on the SW side of Nashville), I decided Monday, 20 Oct.,
that the crisp clear morning was too good to pass up, so I again
detoured to Radnor Lake. Arriving in the west parking lot by
7:10 am, the sun was on only the very tops of the trees, and I
had to wait a few minutes at the dam for the sunlight to bless
that area as well. I found a few warblers, mostly YELLOW RUMPED,
but I lost the best one before I got a good look at it. Later I
heard incessant chipping coming from the bushes in front of
the Ranger's house next to the dam. I was rewarded with good looks
at an immature female MOURNING WARBLER, perhaps the same one I found
last Thursday at a location only 40 yards away. Later I also spotted
an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, perhaps another holdover.
Warblers:
Tennessee 6
Orange-crowned 1
Nashville 1
Magnolia 6
Yellow-rumped 60+
Black-throated Green 5
Mourning 1 im. female
Also seen:
E. Phoebe 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 3
Hermit Thrush 2
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 1
White-throated Sparrow 15 (numbers increasing)
