I went for my first Radnor Lake "Wednesday Walk" of the season. If you
were looking for YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERs, today was the day for you!
I was never out range of their dry chip note. However, the only
other warbler I heard was a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH. A large number of
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETs, 2 WINTER WRENs, 2 BROWN CREEPERs were other
highlights of the morning. Water birds were migrating through as well.
Other sightings included 2 otters diving in different places near the
shore. Beaver handiwork was in evidence but not the beaver.
Avian species of interest included:
Pied-billed Grebe 4
Wood Duck 8
Mallard 2
Ring-necked Duck 10+
Bufflehead 18
Hooded Merganser 1
American Coot 1
Eastern Phoebe 1
Brown Creeper 2
Winter Wren 2
Golden-crowned Kinglet 16+
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Brown Thrasher 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 60+
Louisiana Waterthrush 1
