[TN-Bird] Purple finch

Good morning,

Since Monday, here in the Charlotte Park section of West Nashville, Davidson
County, I have been so busy that I ignored a single purple finch that was
feeding on my deck, simply not looking closely and instantly writing him off
as
"looking darker" because of the lighting and getting back to my computer
writing after only a glance in his direction. Tired of being ignored, the
purple finch just came right up to the French door as if demanding to be
recognized, at which time I realized that he had been the lone finch that has
been
hanging out on the floor of the deck all this time. The house finches feed
primarily from the tube feeder and are usually in groups. My lovely purple
always "hangs" alone. I've just been so busy that I haven't been watching
properly and just overlooked that Mr. Purple was here----seems waaaay to early
for
him, but guess not. Hope he stays around now that he has been officially
"recognized." He's always been a "here today, gone tomorrow, then here again"
type of fellow if it is my same bird that has been coming for a few years. I
still have my one "scout" white-throated sparrow, but no white-crowned or
juncos yet. I have usually had a "scout" junco by now.

Happy birding. Hope winter brings us some real "goodies" this year!
